On Sunday, 16 August 2026, we will gather for EG Phest X, to honor the memory of EG Phillips, who was a beloved member of our San Francisco songwriter and performer community.
EG was part of the fabric of our San Francisco songwriter society. He went out of his way to include those around him in his endeavors – creating posters, collaborating on albums, curating thoughtfully themed shows via his songwriter residency, and of course, in what he termed “an elaborate sociological experiment”, the annual tradition of EG Phest. Our EG had a way with words. Beyond his own art, he was a supporter, showing up for birthday gatherings, shows small and large, listening intently, and sharing. He supported LiveHive by recording open mic shows, helping to preserve a record of all our works. Community is created when we show up, again, and again, and EG did that, for all of us.
EG Phest is currently scheduled at Bazaar Cafe, in the garden, from 11am – 4pm. We will honor E.G. by singing his songs, as was his plan for the day. Please email via the “Contact Us” page if you would like to be signed up for a song.
